As a Person who was not always choosing to live a healthy lifestyle, I know first hand what it is like to have a mind that isn't wired to be fit or healthy. Even Worse, I know what it is like to have a mind that is extremely negative. I've had a mind that would constantly have thoughts that were not in my favor at all. I would have a brilliant thought to start working out, running, eating better or give up some unhealthy habit but immediately it was defeated by what seemed to be countless thoughts reminding me why "I could never do it"
I had so many unhealthy thoughts I felt defeated before ever beginning any new direction. I felt hopeless.
I got tired of feeling hopeless, I got tired of my mind being such a pessimist. Sometimes, it is still pessimistic. This is where the power of choice came in. I realized there was always a choice, I could choose to continue thinking my self defeating thoughts or I could choose the to pick the "minority thoughts", the ones who told me "I could".
It is truly life changing when we begin believing in ourselves. It doesn't mean things will be magically easy, or that there doesn't exist real life opposition. It means we have now aligned our will to our belief in self. It means we choose "I can" over the "I can't". The "I cant" likes to remind us of every time we have ever tried and failed and that any effort to progress in life is an utter waste of our time.
The "I can" simply doesn't give a damn about what the "I can't" has to say. "I can" will simply remind the "I can't" that even if I don't have the answer right now "I can" figure it out.
Just like in the world, there exist many types of calories. Some are whole and filled with micro nutrients that do amazing things for the biological processes that make up our bodies. Some are empty and do little for our health, if anything, and quite possibly even raise our risk of certain diseases if we make a habit of consuming them. So it is, in our minds.
Throughout our days in order to promote our health we must treat our thoughts like we do our calories. All thoughts are not equal in the benefit they provide to us. Start today, start choosing the healthy thoughts, it's not always easy, just like choosing a better food is not always easy. We become addicted to our habits and our ways. It all starts by making the first choose, to choose different, so we see a meaningful change in our lives.
Don't just eat healthy, be healthy, and try some health food, for thought.
